Mohd Syimir bin Rasidi

"This programme has taught me to be a hardworking person. There is no need to be scared when you want to say something. Whatever the problem, there must be a solution. It has been a pleasure for me to learn English from the teachers and trainers even though there are words that I don’t understand. The more we don’t know the more we learn. I don’t mind if sometimes boken English comes out of me. That’s how we learn, from our mistakes. The more mistakes you dare to make, the more knowledge you gain."

"This programme has been superb and a delight since the first day I joined. It has been a great blessing for me to have Teacher Lynn as my teacher. I love her style of teaching vocabulary and grammar which is so resourceful and funny. I have also learnt a lot about history and America. With so much help from the teachers and friends, my quest for knowledge has been growing everyday and it has kept me wanting more."

"From the first day I came to IEC, I thought that it was going to be just another English class with the usual teachers. I soon found that this programme was beyond the ordinary English class. The teachers were special teachers who are not Malaysians. My teacher is Australian and although she is very strict during class, it has been a pleasure for me to learn from her. In the past my English grades were always Bs no matter how hard I tried to improve. Today after being taught lots of English, I’ve finally managed to improve. Grammar was always my down-fall but that has been righted. Through all the classes I’ve attended, I’ve never been happier. I’ve improved my grades, my knowledge, my imagination, my social skills and more."

"I actually think that being here at IEC is great, worth it and fun. Lately, we have been honing our writing skills, thinking skills and reading skills. It actually helps me at school, especially the writing skills. I am trying my best and my hardest to remain here at IEC. My essays are usually off-track and often don’t make sense, but I thank Teacher Lynn for patiently teaching me, advising me and helping me to be better than before. To make things short, I find IEC exceedingly great and I’m very happy to be here. I love being here and I hope I will continue to be here learning and improving my English."

"I have learned a lot in this programme. My writing skills have improved vastly and the way I speak English has also got better week by week. Albeit the teacher is quite strict, but I still love her. Teacher Lynn is one of the best teachers I’ve ever met. I have learned a lot of vocabulary as well. It was unconventional for me to use a high frequency of vocabulary every time I spoke before, so I would like to thank her for that as well. I am now starting to read some books because the teacher says that if you don’t read, then there is no way you can go to university. This programme has held a lot of activities which has given me the opportunity to improve my language, build my leadership skills and most importantly, to speak confidently."

"This program has given me many benefits as the teacher always gives us vocabulary for us to learn and use in our own words. I think that this programme too has given so much input for us to generate our knowledge widely. They’ve partnered with the CLICK 3.0 Camp to nurture more young entrepreneurs. I’ve learned how to do public speaking as well as accepting others’ opinions over on one’s project. I can now have conversations with other people without feeling awkward. Being confident is what I’ve learnt so far. I wonder what the next big thing I’m going to learn will be. "

"The micro-scholarship program that IEC has offered is truly a blessing. Although not many are privileged to take part in this superb program, I for one am truly thankful. So far, my social and English skills have vastly improved and I have already met people who are fully, loving, outgoing and open-minded. This program has also broadened my mind on American history and culture. I would like to thank God, IEC and the US Department of State for giving me this opportunity"

"My journey in this program so far is great! Through this program I have learned more in-depth about American literature as well as its diverse history. I feel really honored to be in this program. The English I have learned so far also benefits me in school as I am taught more grammar and vocabulary; from a different point of view from our school syllabus. So I would like to thank, with all my heart, IEC and the US Department of State for this great experience"

"This English program means a lot to me. This opportunity to learn, improve and further my studies and perhaps get a scholarship overseas is a chance I’m truly grateful for. Before all of this I had never thought of a possibility to study abroad as my parents have made themselves clear that it wasn’t affordable. Therefore I am very thankful for this golden opportunity; it shows me that anything is possible. I will appreciate all the activities organized and I will work my best to prove that I am diligent and determined to make a great difference; again, another “thank you” to IEC and the U.S. Department of State"

"IEC has been a blessing for me. Not only has it given me a chance to have a micro-scholarship but it teaches me that there is a bigger world out there; bigger than what we thought at school. Schools normally teach us basically the same thing every day but in IEC we are asked to write about topics that are considered absurd according to our syllabus. So I would like to thank the Department of State of the U.S. Government and IEC for this micro-scholarship and to thank the Embassy for providing this program for us. This program is literally God sent, so really, thank you"
