The
organization began as International English Centre, a Centre for English
Language in 1981 providing much needed English Language courses and programmes
for students in the Kota Kinabalu areas.
Students enroll for an English language course whilst attending regular
schooling, coming in for classes before or after school twice a week or
3 hrs on weekends. They are grouped according to their proficiency level
and advance through the various levels at the Centre from Primary right
through to the Secondary school stages. The aim is to equip the students
with the necessary English language skills to cope with a course of study
in the English medium abroad.
Thus a logical extention of our services include counseling and placement
of students in educational institutions abroad for a whole range of programmes,
from secondary to tertiary levels. Thus International Education Consultancy
or IEC was formed to service this area in 1983.
As there was further interest by students who have completed their studies
in Australia to apply for Permanent Residency status on completion of their
studies or to return there, another service being offered is the Migration
Service for those wishing to migrate to Australia under both Skilled and
Business categories.
In 2005, IEC opened another branch of the education line with IEC-Ramulda,
partnering with Perunding Ramulda for Human Resource training and development,
offering short courses to working adults and companies; headed by Datuk
Adeline Leong, former President of the Sandakan Municipal Council.
Also in 2005, Sedaya Training and Development Centre (Sabah) Sdn. Bhd.,
partnered with IEC to open its Sabah branch in KK; offering Diploma in Logistics
Management courses for working adults.
Distance Learning and Training programmes and courses are also available
from the Centre. |
